Spectacular opening ceremony
Yesterday, the 20th of April the III European Nations Cup 2010 was officially opened and all participating teams were presented. To get to the La Sella Golf Resort in Denia on the Costa Blanca was not easy and many of the players passed through a real nightmare as the eruption of the Islandic volcano forced them to travel by car or boat.
The espectacular ceremony in charge of the TV presenter Nuria Roca and the bullfighter Óscar Higares was full of surprises, emotions and even magic tricks performed by one of the most prestigious wizards of Spain, Jorge Blass who also made appear out of nowhere “Birdy” the official mascott.
Another highlight was the painting of the artist Alejandro Carpintero, one of the phantastic painters who contributed to the most important golf exhibition with golf at its central theme and that can be visited during the tournament at the lobby of the Hotel Denia Marriott next to the La Sella golf course. The players, one after the other, completed this painting which center has been left white for this purpose with the colours of the banners of their countries.
