Fiestas in Denia with "Bulls into the Sea"
On Saturday the 4th of July 2009 starts Denia´s patron festivities with the famous “Bous a la Mar”, which means bulls into the sea. For the special combination of the bull spectacle with the sea and the active participation of the habitants and visitors of Denia they are declared Festivities of National Tourism Interest.
As in former years there will be a wide-spread range of activities for all ages and tastes: music events, theatre, sports events, competitions, open-air dance, rock concerts, children´s attractions, popular paella cookings and, of course, the bulls.
On Saturday the 4th at 7 pm they have their first entrance starting from the top end of Marqués de Campo until the bull arena next to the fish market in the harbour. Already some hours before this emblematic road and its bars are getting more and more crowded with all kind of people. “Toreros” with their characteristic red scarf and sash can be seen or other more espontaneous bullfighters, who will run with the bulls encouraged by a few drinks.
Every day at 1 and 7 pm (on Saturday 11th only at 1 pm) starts the spectacle “Bous a la Mar” in the particular rectangular arena which seafacing side is open.
"Corre-Foc" - Fire run on Marqués de Campo
Further eagerly awaited events are the fire-run “Corre-foc” which combines pyrotechnics with music in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday at 0.30 am along the Marques de Campo and the phantastic parade of floats, costumes and music on Saturday the 11th at 7 pm on Marques de Campo and Patricio Ferrándiz.
Another highlight will be the concert of the popular Spanish singer Malú on Sunday the 12th at 22.30 h on the parking of the fish market in the harbour, which is followed by some outstanding fireworks finalizing a long Fiesta week.
